The Impact of Strategic Planning on Improving Institutional Performance at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia

Abstract
 

The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of strategic planning (SP) on institutional at private educational institutions in Malaysia specially, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT). Their relationship receives a considerable scholarly attention in the literature, but few studies have been conducted among Malaysian Public and private Universities. Universities are considered as important based on the belief that this sector plays a key role in supporting its plan of transformation of the country from a middle-income country into a high income by 2020. Based on the theoretical consideration, a model was proposed to examine this relationship. A quantitative survey method was used, the data were collected from the staffs of LUCT in Cyberjaya – Malaysia. A total of 120 questionnaires distributed, 78 usable questionnaires were returned. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for the data analysis. Based on the statistical findings, the strategic planning and its dimensions have a significant and positive relationship with improving the institutional performance. The result of the present study has some practical implications: It will assist owner/managers of LUCT take the right decision on the importance of strategic planning (SP) in their respective firm. The strategic planning (SP) can help owner/managers with well-built to attain the maximum performance level in their organizations and remain relevant in their competitive market.
